Registrations open for YMCA summer camps

Registration is now open for summer camps at the YMCA of Laurel Highlands.

Registration is now open for summer camps at the YMCA of Laurel Highlands.

Summer gymnastics is a 6-week program from June 26 through Aug. 2 for kids from beginners to advanced gymnasts. Twenty-five-minute classes are $30 for members and $42 for non-members, while 40-minute sessions are $39 for members and $51 for non-members. The summer dance program will include dance camps from July 17-20 and Aug. 7-10 for dancers in the 5-7, 8-11 and 12+ age brackets. There also will be two one-day workshops.

Science camp will be held Monday through Thursday, June 12-15. Ages 3-5 will meet from 4:30-5:15 p.m. at a cost of $26 for members and $34 for non-members. Ages 6-8 will meet from 5:30-7 p.m., and ages 9-12 will meet from 7:15-8:45 p.m., both at a cost of $45 for members and $60 for non-members.

Princess camp will be held Monday through Thursday, June 19-22. Campers ages 3-6 will meet from 3:15-4 p.m. at a cost of $26 for members and $34 for non-members.

Company Intensive camp will be held Monday through Thursday, June 19-22, with ages 5-9 from 4:30-6 p.m. and ages 10 and older from 6-8 p.m. Cost for the younger group is $45 for members and $60 for non-members, while cost for the older age bracket is $55 for members and $70 for non-members.

Volleyball camp will be held Monday through Thursday, June 26-29, with kids ages 9-13 meeting from 5-7 p.m. Cost is $55 for members and $70 for non-members.

Fun Day Fridays, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Meet in the YMCA Activity Center with others who enjoy the same things you do.

Spots are still available for the Y Tot Preschool Fall 2023-2024 session. There is a $2 5 non-refundable registration fee due at sign-up, and tuition will be due Aug. 31. This is also for our 2-day class and Little Tots Play Day.

The Activity Center is open for members and guests and includes a pool table, ping pong table, and air hockey table.

Saturday, June 10 — The YMCA's Spirit Dance and Gymnastics classes will have their annual recital at Connellsville Area Middle School. Doors open at 9 a.m. Act 1 begins at 9:30 a.m., and Act 2 begins at 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 in advance or $7 at the door. They will be on sale beginning May 30.

Thursday, June 15 — Seniors for Safe Driving class, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Thursday, June 15 — Father and His Kids Fun Event at the YMCA, 6 p.m. Activities will be outside as weather permits.

Monday, June 19 to Friday, June 23 — Charter Oak Church Vacation Bible School.

Wednesday, June 21 — Red Cross blood drive in the Activity Center. Register by visiting redcrossblood.org.

Wednesday, June 21 — Sunset Yoga, 7:30 p.m. The YMCA invites the community to join us outside on the longest day of the year to raise money and awareness for the Alzheimer's Association. Bring your own mat and water bottle.

Friday, June 23 — Bike ride, Ohiopyle.

Friday, Sept. 22 — Annual Golf Classic Tournament at Pleasant Valley Golf Club. Contact Bea Jarbeck-Burk for additional information.
